About TIS Hiking and Outdoors club
TIS Hiking and Outdoors club was initiated by Mr. Tim Getter (TIS IB coordinator and grade 9-12 biology teacher) as an afterschool activity in 2007. Now it is led by a number of high school students who love mountains, fresh air and sports.
So far the events organized
by the club members include a number of hikes in the Western Tien Shan,camp-outs and simple walks around the city in snowy weather.
We have already opened the hiking season of 2008 with a hike to Hodjikent. The plans for this spring are tremendous, so come, join, and hike with us!
A little about the members of the club:
The club members are those who love outdoors activities: hiking, camping, skiing, horseback riding, biking and any other outdoors sports. In the club we organize hikes and camp-outs. Some of us are also members of the "International Hiking Club in Tashkent", which regurarely hosts 7-8 hour long strenuous hikes.
Becoming a member
If you want to have a great time in the mountains, hike in the picturesque routes in the Western Tien Shan, climb thousand meter peaks, camp-out in the mountain ridges and realize your outdoors ideas, - you are most welcome to the club! Just keep in mind that there's a whole range of activities from simple to more difficult. To join some activities a student may need to go through preparatory steps, such as participating in the practice camp-out at TIS before camping out in the mountains. Also, regular participation in the easier hikes is required before joining in the the more challenging hikes.
Hope to see you at the hikes!
