Music Teacher: Natalya Khon Elementary students PK 1, 2 have 4 music lessons a week; Kindergarten and Grade 1 have 3 lessons a week with the music specialist in the well-equipped music room.
The program is geared to giving all students a practical knowledge of music theory, practice and performance. They are taught the basic skills and vocabulary of music and then are given the opportunity to apply this in a range of performances (signing, composing, and improvising). |

Elementary students (G2-5) have 2 music lessons per week in the well-equipped music room.
TIS Elementary Music curriculum is performance-based; students have an opportunity to study elements of music theory and history and improve their performance skills. All students learn how to play Soprano recorders, pitched/non-pitched percussion instruments and the other classroom instruments such as Orff xylophones and metallophones. In music class they also learn how to sing solo and in ensemble, how to compose and improvise and how to listen and appreciate the music of different styles and cultures. |
