Uzbek Studies

Each week all elementary students will participate in one 45 minute period of “Uzbek Studies”. The aim of Uzbek Studies program is to promote cultural understanding and respect for individuals and their values and traditions. This exposure to and experience with culture will open doors to key questions about life and learning. It also seeks to help the students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the local culture.
The Uzbek Studies component of the curriculum provides opportunities for students to:- gain a strong understanding of culture
- develop an appreciation of other ideas and beliefs
- gain knowledge that is of genuine importance in understanding concepts related to culture
- explore the Units of Inquiry through the local reality
- apply skills and concepts learned to familiar context
- gain conceptual understandings through participating in learning experiences that foster sensitivity, creativity and initiative in relation to our host country
