About Pre-school

The preschool will officially become part of TIS in March 2009. In preparation for this, the faculty has undergone regular professional development sessions to bring their practice in line with the PYP. We have also built a strong Programme of Inquiry which articulates with the TIS programme. Students aged 3-5 years old are expected to explore 4 Units of Inquiry and these units include the Arts and Physical Education which are supported by specialist teachers. (See attached programme outline).

08:30 till 09:20 Social time; inside or outside, depending on the weather

09:20 till 10:05 Homeroom inquiry learning time

10:05 till 10:25 Snack & recess time

10:25 till 10:45 Foreign Language Exposure (FLEX) or Music

10:45 till 11:30 Foreign Language Exposure (FLEX) or Homeroom inquiry learning time

11:30 till 12:15 Music/drama or Homeroom inquiry learning time

12:00 till 12:30 PK2 Lunch/PK1 Recess

12:30 till 13:10 PK1 Lunch/PK2 Recess

13:10 till 13:50 Homeroom inquiry learning time (Children who need an afternoon rest time will be given a quiet area to nap or rest)

13:50 till 14:35 Homeroom inquiry learning time/Art

14:35 till 15:20 Homeroom inquiry learning time

15:20 Pick up time

15:30 till 16:30 After-school activities (ASA) programme

16:30 Pick up time for ASA children

What to bring: - Suitable clothing for outdoor activities - Indoor shoes - Changing clothes to be kept in your child’s locker - Nappies & wet wipes Birthdays: We are happy to celebrate your child’s birthday at snack time. We will gather all 40 children, sing songs and give small presents. We would like you to inform the teacher no later than the day before.
