In student council this year, we have been doing many exciting things and have already accomplished a lot of them.  I have learned that the job slot of President isn’t as easy as I might have suspected.  I have many responsibilities I still have to improve on.  But let’s talk about what we have been doing together.

I like to think of student council as a team.  Everyone has their own role.  I a representative or active member doesn’t do what they need to, we all basically fall on our faces.  It’s about the brother and sister on the right of you, and the brother and sister on the left of you.  Everyone is just as important as everyone.  There is no difference between representatives, active members, and officer.  It is simply names to categorize people.  I mean sure, officers may plan meetings and help the president lead them, but without everyone else’s help and ideas, there would not even be a meeting.  In other words, we are learning about teamwork without realizing it.

One positive thing I gain form this program is financial elements as well.  We learn how to correctly price things while making sure it isn’t “highway robbery” of course.   We also work at Lock-ins, Movie nights, and game nights in shifts which also improve out teamwork.  We also share a lot considering the fact that we give away almost all of our profit at the end of the year except for a little seed money to give us a quick boost next year.

Last but not least, we learn how to solve group problems such as the recess toy box issue with our heads.  And use the student list of International mindedness to help us.  Often we are inquirers.

Not a whole lot of the student council year has passed, but we are growing.  I believe we are a strong group and we can accomplish anything if we set our minds to it.  T.I.S. student council forever!
