Elementary

Dear parents,

Welcome to the first term of the TIS After-School Activities program 2010/2011! We are

pleased to be able once again to offer our students a wide range of activities for the autumn term. As we are always looking to improve our program, we welcome your input and expertise; please let us know if you have any ideas for improvement. We would appreciate parents volunteering to offer ASA (After-School Activities). This would greatly increase the range of activities we can offer our students. If you would like to offer an activity, please contact me at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .We hope that you and your child will find an activity (or several) that is of interest. The activities begin in the week of 30th of August and end in the week of 12th of November, 2010. There will be no activities on early dismissal days (such as parent conferences) or on days where there is no school. Throughout the school year, we may have to cancel an activity for reasons beyond our control (i.e. illness of the instructor), if this happens we will do our best to either find a substitute teacher for the activity or inform you as quickly possible. You will find a registration form and a small description of each activity in the attachment. Please complete the form according to your child’s interest. Place the form and related money for the fees in a sealed envelope in the green box marked “After School Activities” located in the office. Please make sure the envelope is clearly identified with your child’s name.

We will be accepting registration for the 1st trimester of After-school Activity until Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Participants will be registered upon receipt of the form and payment of the activity. Please do remember that once the students have chosen an activity they are expected to attend this activity for the full trimester; it is not possible for students to change activities once they have started. Some activities will be run by Russian speaking instructors. As these activities are very much hands-on’ non-Russian speaking students will still be able to participate. These activities are indicated by an asterisk (*). Should an activity have more students interested than places available, priority will be given to the students who  registered first. On the other hand, we may have to cancel some activities if we do not have enough students registered. After school, all the students involved in the ASA program should line up by the entrance close to grade 1 at 3:30. The instructors will come to get the students. Please make sure that you pick up your child at the gates when the activity ends (at 4:30). If your child can not participate in a lesson, please inform the office in advance. Attention to PK1-PK2-KG parents! We highly recommend that you sign up your child for no more than 1 activity a week as it’s overwhelming for the little ones to cope with the school load and more than 1 activity. Please understand we do not have supervision on campus for students not involved in ASA after 3:30; therefore elementary students not registered in an ASA must be picked up at 3:30. If you wish to play with your child on the campus after school, you are very welcome as long as you directly supervise your child. Children may not wait (3:30 to 4:30) on campus for a sibling to finish an activity unless they are either in an activity or you have arranged supervision for him/her. Your cooperation ensures a safe environment at our school! I hope you will enjoy our ASA program and continue to embrace these learning opportunities!
