Student Council

The Student Council is a student body which consists of President, Vice President and class representatives. In the academic year of 2009-2010, we have 13 representative members from grades 6 through 12, which were elected by students. There is a Student Council meeting every Monday and we discuss how to make each school year more meaningful to students. Even though we make many decisions through lively discussion of all members, we have 7 distinct committees to work on specific details of our activities.

Committees:

•  Office Bearers – This committee is responsible for guiding the student council to the right direction. It makes sure that student council is doing the right job and leads the meeting. (President: Dongjin - Grade 12, Vice President: Gulnara - Grade 12, Secretary: Madina - Grade 10A)

•  Public Relations – This committee is responsible for communication with the student body through student council board, morning announcements, etc. We receive suggestions and opinions from students both through email and directly. (Dongjin - Grade 12, Shahkruhk - Grade 11)
• Marketing – This committee is responsible for advertizing the upcoming events and informing the students what the Student Council is planning to organize. It makes colorful posters, and uses other means to communicate with the students. (Gulnara - Grade 12, Kai - Grade 11, Maftuna - Grade 10B)
•  Events – This committee is responsible for organizing events such as Movie Night, Dance Night and Lock-in. It takes care of getting detailed ideas so that Student Council as a whole can make decisions for events. (Shahkruhk - Grade 11, Rodrigo - Grade 9A, Jasper - Grade 9B, Luigi - Grade 7B)
• Spirit – This committee is responsible for promoting school spirit. This group is in charge of school spirit activities such as Spirit Week, cheers for sports and the spirit points. (Maftuna - Grade 10B, Sheila - Grade 8, Su Jin - Grade 7A, Jisoo - Grade 6)
• Merchandizing – This new committee is responsible for manufacturing school merchandises, under the belief that such products can unite the student body with spirit. To help promote the school spirit, we are planning to provide and produce items with the school name and make it available for sale to the student body. (Gulnara - Grade 12, Dewon - Grade 12, Madina - Grade 12)
• Student Life – This committee is responsible for improving school life of TIS students. It receives any students’ opinions regarding the school and seeks to solve the problem or improve the current situation. (Dongjin - Grade 12, Kai - Grade 11)
