After School Activities
Dear Parents: I have attached the document that the secondary students have used to make their 3rd Trimester Secondary ASA choices. This sheet has been used by students to plan and indicate their activity choices. Students have been asked to look at the descriptions of the activities and use the timetable to plan out the ones they wanted to select. We are hoping that they shared this sheet with you. During the first week of activities students will be allowed to make changes to their schedule and then by April 2nd their schedule will be finalized and a copy emailed home to parents.
We have asked students to remember these two very important things when making their selections:
1. Commitment is a very important part of belonging to a community and when they select their activities they must fulfill their commitment by attending all sessions and communicating actively with the teacher/supervisor involved. 2. Think carefully about not overextending themselves with selecting too many activities
Please encourage your children to get involved with our co-curricular program as it is a great way to get to know other students within the community and expand their comfort zones by trying new activities.
Some important things to know include:
1. We will notify parents of the choices and commitments selected by their children by email 2. Activity session will begin on Monday, March 29th (the first Monday back at school) through to Friday, June 4th. 3. Students in Grade 6 – 8 must not remain on campus without being in an activity or being supervised by their parent. We have offered a homework club to help students who must remain on campus for a 4:30 activity. 4. Sports and Drama activities will not run on this schedule and notices will be provided through our newsletters and student announcements 5. There will be no activities on days with a shortened schedule or school holidays. 6. The activities requiring fees are paid directly to the teacher in charge at the first activity. 7. Throughout the school year, we may have to cancel an activity for reasons beyond our control (i.e. illness of the instructor), if this happens we will do our best to either find a substitute teacher for the activity or inform you as quickly possible.
We think that there is a great variety of activities on offer this year, but if you notice a need or have a passion that you would like to share with our student body, please feel free to contact me.
Kind regards,
Fiona Moss Secondary Activities Coordinator
