Message from the TIS PTA

Dear All,
If you are new to TIS, welcome! If you are returning to TIS, we hope you had a relaxing summer and are ready for a great new year!
On behalf of the TIS Parent Teacher Association (PTA), we would like to welcome you to Tashkent and our school. The PTA is very active at TIS and very involved with many school programs with the goal of building community and actively volunteering and contributing to our children's activities at school.
Here are some of the programs and events planned for this school year:

• Welcome Dinner for new TIS staff in August
• Potluck Dinner and Quiz
• UN Day Celebration
• Book Fair/PTA Café
• TIS Holiday Ball
• Lunch for the Teacher's Day
• Spring Bazaar
• Farewell Barbecue Lunch in June

All parents with children at TIS and all TIS teachers are automatically members of the PTA. Our parents, teachers, staff and students can all take part in our programs. Taking part in PTA activities lets us meet interesting people from different cultures and learn from each other's experiences.
We have planned many great activities for the school year. I hope you will become involved in transforming them from ideas to reality.

How You Can Get Involved

There are lots of ways to get involved. Here are some suggestions:
• Attend PTA monthly meetings (they are the first Friday of every month at 13:45 at the MPR room)
• Be a Room Parent (Class Representative) - The point person for assisting with communication between parents and teachers of a particular classroom or grade. Coordinate coffee morning social meetings and help to get parents involved in school activities;
• Send a treat to school for Teacher's day and several other events;
• Participate in PTA sponsored events.
Your enthusiasm and creativity are most welcome. Once again, welcome to the TIS school community. We look forward to meeting and working with all of you this year!
