Scholarship Gala 2023

I would like to encourage parents to attend our Scholarship Gala. We have not held a Gala since 2019 and it should be a delightful and meaningful evening. TIS Parents can invite close friends and known acquaintances to attend the event as it is just not for TIS families. There will be entertainment, raffles, auctions and dancing.

The Scholarship Gala is the prime fundraising event for our TIS Scholarship Program. All funds raised go to supporting our Secondary School Scholarship Program. This year’s gala is on Saturday, February 11 at the Obi Hayot Restaurant, doors open at 6:30pm. The location of the restaurant can be found here.

Tickets are USD $80. Please email Yuliya to book a ticket or table (10 people to a table). If you are unable to attend but would like to make a donation you can do that here using a credit or UzCard.

RU Благотворительный бал — это главное мероприятие по сбору средств для нашей стипендиальной программы ТМШ. Все собранные средства идут на поддержку стипендиальной программы нашей средней школы. В этом году Благотворительный бал состоится в субботу, 11 февраля, в ресторане Obi Hayot, начало в 18:30. Локацию ресторана можно посмотреть здесь.

KOR Scholarship Gala는 TIS 장학금 프로그램을 위한 주요 모금 행사입니다. 모금된 모든 기금은 중고등학교 장학금 프로그램을 지원하는 데 사용됩니다. 올해 갈라 행사는 2월 11일 토요일 Obi Hayot 레스토랑에서 열리며 오후 6시 30분에 시작합니다. 레스토랑 위치는 여기 확인하시기 바랍니다.

Supervision After School

We value TIS having an open campus where students and families can enjoy the area afterschool. Considering this, we must follow some rules to make sure students are safe;

• Students must be supervised by an adult at all times. This means that the student and adult must be able to see and hear each other (usually a distance of 25 meters or less).
• Students must have adult supervision when playing football on the astroturf near the gym.
• Students must have an adult with them to purchase snacks at the cafeteria.
• Students found without adult supervision will be take to security

RU Мы любим открытый кампус ТМШ, где учащиеся и их семьи могут провести время после школы. Учитывая это, мы должны соблюдать некоторые правила, чтобы обеспечить безопасность учащихся:

• Учащиеся должны постоянно находиться под присмотром взрослых. Это означает, что ученик и взрослый должны иметь возможность видеть и слышать друг друга (обычно на расстоянии 25 метров или менее).
• Учащиеся должны находиться под присмотром взрослых, когда играют в футбол на искусственном газоне рядом со спортзалом.

World Read Aloud Day

From Jan 30th to Feb 6th, TIS elementary students will be celebrating World Read Aloud Day. This global initiative created by LitWorld that calls attention to the power and importance of reading and sharing stories. It is now in its 14th year, and celebrated in 173 countries.

One of the fun traditions of this day of sharing stories is for authors and illustrators around the world to Zoom into classrooms & libraries for short read-alouds. We will honor this tradition by connecting to a number of authors and listening to them read.

Parents are welcome to join any of the author visits.

Cold Weather

Although the extreme weather seems to be behind us please remember to dress your children appropriately. As it warms up a bit we will be spending more time outside.

Secondary School Ski Program

We have started our ski trips to Amirsoy and will continue this week and next. The following grade levels will be going on the following days:

• Monday, 30 January Grade 6
• Tuesday, 31 January Grade 7
• Wednesday, 1 February Grade 9
• Thursday, 2 February Grade 10
• Monday, 6 February Grade 8
• Tuesday, 7 February Grade 11

Save the Date – Central Asia Basketball Classic 2023 is BACK in Tashkent

TIS will be hosting the Central Asia Basketball Classic 2023 (CABC). The international tournament will be from February 15 to 18. Three countries represented from nine schools with a grand total of 24 teams and 280 participants. Boys and girls from grades 8 through 12 will be competing including the Owls Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball teams.

We would love the support of the TIS community! Particularly on the CABC 2023 final day Saturday, February 18, 2023.
