UPDATE: 

Tashkent International School offers elementary students a wide range of after-school activities throughout the school year. The activities are divided into three terms, or trimesters – fall, winter and spring. Some activities, such as student councils will run for the whole year, whilst other activities are only offered for one or two trimesters.   

Trimester 2 After School Activities will start on Monday, 13th January.   

Registration for activities will open from Friday, 6th December via a  Google Form sent from Mr. Brendan Tobin (adac@tashschool.org).

Registration for After School Activities will only be accepted via this form.

Final student ASA schedules will be sent home via email to parents on Monday, 6th January.

Due to limited space, it is not possible for students to have an activity every day. Please limit the number of activities that you sign up for:
– PS2 & KG Students are limited to a maximum of 2 ASAs per week
– Grades 1 and 2 are limited to a maximum of 3 ASAs per week
– Grade 3, 4 and 5 are limited to a maximum of 4 ASAs per week

After-school activities are not being offered to PS1 students.

Arts and Crafts – (PS2 to 2) Ms Vika

Ms Vika is back with all kinds of engaging, creative crafts for students to create!

 

Gymnastics – (1 – 3) Ms Alexandra

Ms Alexandra is back again for another trimester! Students will participate in a variety of fun, age appropriate exercises and movements, set to music, to develop flexibility, coordination and balance.

 

Wushu (4 – 7) Mr. Azamat

Wushu” is the Chinese term for “martial arts” (武 “Wu” = military or martial, 術 “Shu” = art). Wushu is composed of two disciplines: taolu (套路; forms) and sanda (散打; sparring). But it has other disciplines, like self defense, and breaking hard objects. 

Taolu involves martial art patterns, acrobatic movements and techniques for which competitors are judged. The forms comprise basic movements (stances, kicks, punches, balances, jumps, sweeps, and throws), and can be changed for competitions to highlight one’s strengths. If you’d like to learn more, sign up for this new and exciting activity. 

 

Construction Club (PS2 – KG) Ms Kristina

Enjoy exploring and building with a range of construction resources each week.

 

Painting 101 (1 – 5) Ms Lind

This is your chance to use the ES art studio and make that painting you have been dreaming about but never had the time. We will use acrylic paint and I will show a few techniques. Then it’s up to you to create your masterpiece. This activity is for elementary and secondary students together. We will learn from, and inspire each other.

 

Creating with Cardboard (2 – 4) Mrs Folio

Join cardboard fun! This crafty after school activity will inspire creativity, playfulness and foster a greater sense of independence in children in Grades 2-4. They will have numerous opportunities to build up a spirit of inventiveness and think outside of the box!

 

Chess for Beginners (2 – 5) Mr. Fozil

Chess is known as one of the games to help you become smarter; come along and make your brain grow!!!!

 

Beading (3 – 5) Ms Irina

Beading is a very relaxing activity, and a great way to relieve stress and tension of everyday life. Beading gives us a way to be creative, learn new techniques, and make something that matches our favorite colors and style. It can also give us a sense of accomplishment, and make us feel happier and more self-confident when we receive compliments on our beadwork.

 

Card Games  (3 – 5) Ms Lyuba

Students will play different card games as Top Trumps, UNO and etc.

 

Uzbek  (KG – 12) Ms Saida

Local families whose home language is Uzbek, usually speak Russian and Uzbek at home. Uzbek is being forgotten in a modern world since English and Russian are dominating. We will create and play uzbek language games, read books and hold conversations. 

 

Knowledge Bowl (5 – 8) Jung Ki & Mr. Killmer

Do you have what it takes to be the smartest among your peers?

Knowledge Bowl is a collaborative competition between teams where players show off their knowledge and battle against each other head-to-head, using buzzers and timers, in multiple rounds of random trivia facts. Students answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science and mathematics. Join us and show off your intelligence!

Ms Vika is back with all kinds of engaging, creative crafts for students to create!

Karate (2 – 4) Sensei Alexandr

Students will work on their discipline and control whilst having fun and learning Karate with Sensei Alexandr. 

 

Pottery (PS2 – 1) Mr. Yorquin

Students will learn and explore the art of sculpting and pottery. 

 

Reading & IXL (3 – 5) Ms Sayyora

Participants will read and do math during this ASA. We will dedicate the first 30 minutes to reading and the next 30 minutes children will solve math problems on IXL. 

 

Swan Lake (PS2 – 3) Ms Moran

We make dance fun while learning. The lessons are created to encourage age appropriate creativity, musicality, and physicality. Your child will dance and have fun with an emphasis on the foundations of ballet. Dancers will be brought through creative movement and basic ballet steps and more!

3D printing (4 – 5) Ms Woods 

Students will develop 3D printing and design thinking skills by rapid prototyping a hand-held maze game project and then identify a project that interests them and will spend the remainder of the time working on their project!

The Green Ninjas are students who want a chance to think about sustainability and put their ideas into action. This year, we’re hoping to build a greenhouse, we will also help the high school Greener Tomorrows program with some of their projects!

 

Uzbek (KG – 5) Ms Umida 

Learning Uzbek language and some cultural features through reading stories

 

Russian Home Language (2 – 5) Ms Gulya

The activity is for the Russian speakers for whom Russian is a home language. The activity is aimed for students in grades 2-5.

 

World of Science (4 – 5) Khyathi; Ms Christina’s Room 304 

This activity will include different science concepts with experiments every lesson. We will watch videos, play games, have quizzes on what we learn. This activity is for people who are interested in science, especially doing experiments. 

 

Spanish Club (3 -5) Gaby; Elementary Library

Join the Spanish club! A space where basic Spanish is taught in fun and different ways. Opened to anybody between grades 3-5 who wants to learn a new language and have a nice time after school.

 

Korean Home Language (1 – 5) Ji Hye; KGK Room

Mother Tongue – Students will do activities about Korean culture and learn about Korean language so that they can have the opportunity to explore in their mother tongue.

 

MakerSpace (4 – 9) Ms Kate; Secondary School MakerSpace lab (Limited Space)

Come along and  make things. 

Things that you are curious about, things that spring from your imagination, things that inspire you and things that you admire. The project you want to work on is up to you. Your imagination is the key, if you can design it, you can make it. 

Are you building a time machine so you can move seamlessly backwards and forward in time? Perhaps you are working on a robot, or making something cool for your room? Are you coding a website or designing the greatest video game ever? Do you just want to come and tinker with technology and electronics or do some arts and engineering? If this is you, come and create and innovate in the MakerSpace. 

 

Spirit Club (3 – 8) Mrs Currey

Are you energetic? Are you creative? Are you proud to be a TIS Owl??

Come support your TIS sports’ teams and help pump up the energy of the fans by:

* Learning, creating and teaching others cheers/chants

* Cheering at TIS basketball games

* Creating/painting posters for games/matches/tournaments

* Helping to organize pep rallies

If you are proud to be a TIS Owl then this is the club for you!!!

Beginner Ice Skating (2 – 5) Ms Julie & Mrs Tate; Furkat Park (PAID ASA)

Learn the basics of  ice skating at the Furkat ice ring. Improve your strength and balance while having fun on the ice. This is a paid ASA, the cost of Beginner Ice Skating is approximately 300, 000soum for the trimester. This ASA also has very limited space.

Multilingual Karaoke (3 – 5) Ms Nargiza 

Choose your favorite song, in any language. If we find the music/minus of the song, you are lucky! Music will play, you will sing, and the audience will cheer for you! Why wait, let’s sing and celebrate our linguistic and cultural diversity together!

 

Yoga for Kids (PS2 – 2) Ms Shirin & Ms Nuriya 

Students will learn simple yoga routines with Ms Shirin and Ms Nuriya. 

 

MakerSpace (1 – 2) Ms Hackett; 2H Room

Come and explore design thinking as you complete challenges, learn new creating skills, and create your own projects! In Maker Space ASA students will be encouraged to problem solve as they create anything from marble runs to cardboard balloon cars!

 

Creative Writing Club (4 – 7) Hayley; Mr Graham’s room

A fun, creative activity where students can come to read and create original pieces of writing  – everything from poetry to stories. There’ll be games for character development and opportunities to share the student’s works. 

 

Read & Create / Picture Book STEM (2 – 4) Ms Sayyora 

Read a great picture book, use literacy vocabulary by talking about the characters and the problem in the book, and then build, make and create your own solutions.
