Responsibilities of the TIS Board

Strategic Planning
The board is responsible for establishing, evaluating and reviewing the mission and strategic direction of TIS.

Finance
The board is responsible for fiscal understanding and oversight of the school. It reviews and approves the annual budget and the annual financial statements.

Policy Formulation and Adoption
The board is responsible for the formulation and approval of school policy. The board is assisted in this task by the head of school and their leadership team.

Personnel
The board is responsible for hiring, evaluating and developing the head of school. All other personnel decisions as well as the daily management of the school are delegated to the head of school, their leadership team, faculty and staff.

Serving on the TIS School Board
The school board consists of eleven voting members, including a representative of the ambassador of the United States. Any non-employee parent of a TIS student is eligible for election to the board.

Board members serve for two years.
Elections take place every April at the Annual General Meeting of parents. Board meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month at 6 pm. Meeting dates are posted on the school calendar on the website and also on the noticeboard at the front gate.
